Mood: cranky ♥ 10:16 PM
I'm so tired!
Slept at 3.00 am yesterday and woke up at 5.30 am.
The reason being? Projects. Duh.
Not only has these projects tossed up my sleeping schedule and given me this incessant coughing, it has also changed my temper, to a certain extent. Little matters can give me twinges of irritability, sometimes even making me impatient with the people around me, without meaning to. All this description about ECH being an interesting course - it's just a euphemism for the offensive workload. As interesting as some of the modules are, it's definitely not
easy, seeing the number of people who have dropped out of this course since last year.
It really riles me up when people dont' understand what it is really like to be in this, but act as though it is just excessive exaggeration on our part.
'I also have alot of projects!'. 'You all really got so much work meh, you are just taking care of kids - what else are there?'. 'Early Childhood? No future lah'.Firstly, do
you have 30 projects a year?
Secondly, it's definitely more than just changing diapers. There are the PIES of children, brain structure and development, terms, principles, and theories - even for play. Vygotsky. Piaget. Freud. Erikson. Ainsworth. Bandura. Rousseau. Ever heard of them? 'Scaffolding' and 'Intersubjectivity'. Parallel play. Associative play. Babinski reflex. ZPD. Proximodistal trend. Cephalocaudal trend. Know them?
'What else are there?' Accounting principles, vertical and horizontal analysis, etc. - a module which we have to learn abt basic accounting stuffs.
So, yes, we have alot of work, and we don't just feed children and change their diapers.
Thirdly. No future? Don't send your child to the childcare centre in the future then.
If people from the ECH field really do not have any future, where do you think the teachers, child counsellors and psychologists, toys, and children's books come from?
